Aaand We’re Off! 2017 So Far...

Today is Thursday, February 23, 2017, two months into the new year and I’ve been busy.

In non-acting-career-related news – I proudly participated in the historic WOMEN’S MARCH in Washington, DC on January 21st. It was a profound experience on many levels and ignited a fire in me that burns to this day. Who would have thought that, at this point in my life, I would become an Activist, but there you have it. I say it LOUD and I say it PROUD!

Women’s March 2017

I’ve participated in three readings of plays in development at THEATRE WEST, and was cast in one of them, IN A YELLOW WOOD. It’s a lovely play about a young man who has lost his wife in a car accident and then struggles to get on with his life. I get to play his less-than-doting mother who has her own issues. It has heart and humor and so in keeping with the amazing talents of GARRY KLUGER.

I decided to end my affiliation with my theatrical agent, who wasn’t able to open doors as we had hoped. I’m currently working with a new manager – my long-time friend KAT McENTEE, who introduced me to a big casting director for TV movies that is now interested in me.

I FINISHED MY FIRST FULL LENGTH PLAY! It’s called SECRETS THAT YOU KEEP and it is a one-woman show. I am in the middle of a re-write of Act One and then will do a reading for my husband, The Writer, and see what notes he has to improve it. It’s very convenient having an in-house editor! The next steps will be to begin workshopping it at THEATRE WEST.

My friend and fellow THEATRE WESTER, AMY SIMON, has asked me to direct her one-woman show, SHE’S HISTORY. I am honored to do this with her. It is a terrific piece that’s entertaining and enlightening. I can’t wait!

Last week I had the privilege of being a camera model for cinematographer CREIG FRASER (Star Wars: Rogue One, Lion, Zero Dark Thirty etc.) at AFI. He was demonstrating brand new lenses and computer-controlled lights for the CAMERIMAGE Festival taking place all weekend. Demos were slated so who knows where I might turn up next! :-)

And on MARCH 5th & 8th, in honor of INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY I will be participating in IN THE SHADOW OF NONE, a series of Staged Readings of Original Monologues written and performed by members of THEATRE WEST. We will also be taking the show on the road, up to the MOTION PICTURE HOME in Calabasas, CA.
