2020 is Here!

*****UPDATE: JANUARY 22, 2020*****

Found out I have been cast in the indie short film GERRY AND RUTH (see below).

We shoot in Savannah in April. I AM OVER THE MOON!Traditionally, December is a quiet month for actors and I was no exception. So, this post is going to be more personal than business.

Sadly, on Christmas morning we lost our treasured friend PATRICIA ALICE ALBRECHT to the cancer she had been fighting for decades. Patrish and I go way back - to 1987, when we were both members of The Group Repertory Theatre in Los Angeles. Patricia was always a loving, sweet, funny, kind, gentle, beautiful pixie of a woman who was an extraordinarly talented writer, poet, and actress. To audiences, Patricia is best remembered as the voice of PIZZAZZ in the 1980's Saturday morning cartoon JEM & THE HOLOGRAMS. Patricia was one in a billion and to know her literally was to love her. She will be tremendously missed by her son, musician FOREST MILLER, her family, friends, and her multitude of fans.

Rolling Stone published a nice article about the shoe’s impact and legacy.

David and I caught up on a lot of movies in December. We especially loved JO JO RABBIT. For those who may not know, my husband is writer DAVID R. GEORGE III and in addition to being a terrific novelist, he has a movie blog called MOVIE REVIEWS BY GEORGE.

January is off to a good start acting-wise. Last week, I had my very first Facetime audition. It was a little weird and slightly disorienting, but I guess I did okay because I got a callback. It's for an independent short film that will shoot in Savannah. The callback (chemistry read) was this past Sunday in-person in Savannah. That's a 4+ hour drive from Marietta (plus overnight stay in an AirBnb), but the script was so good I had to do it - and I'm so glad I did! The callback was one of the most artistically gratifying acting experiences I have had in a very, very long time. Of course, I'd LOVE to land the part, but the experience Sunday is why I do what I do. That kind of connection to the material and other actors doesn't happen often and I savor it when it does.

I actually had to step away from this update because yesterday I got a fast-turnaround audition for a Guest Starring role on DOOM PATROL. In less than two days, I had to memorize 5 1/2 pages of dialog, self-tape 2 scenes, and get it uploaded to the casting director. I think this is my 5th or 6th audition for this show, so I guess they like what I'm doing - now if only they'll actually book me!

Thanks for reading my blog.
Here's to a GREAT 2020 to all of you!
