May so far...

MAY 2014

I always love the month of May.
Maybe it’s because I was born in Sweet Springtime
But this May has been a particularly good one for me so far – personally and professionally –
and it’s only the 9th!

PROFESSIONALLY

  • I shot a prologue to “LAST NIGHT,” the horror short (directed by the very talented NICK PINEDA), that featured yours-truly in a scene by myself and.... an ‘invisible force.’ I haven’t seen it yet, but I’m told it came out well and that the class (Nick is a Grad Student at USC) enjoyed it and my performance. This means a lot for many reasons, not the least of which is JOHN LANDIS is teaching the class. So, Nick, thank you again for casting me. I look forward to ‘round three’ where we finish the last bit of the film.

  • I also was cast in a NY Film Academy short called, “MILLA’S IN TROUBLE,” directed by the dynamic and talented writer/director TRIP LOON (yes, that’s right). We rehearse on Monday, May 12th and I shoot the part of Miss Oaks, the saccharine-sweet high school guidance counselor who hates kids, on Wednesday, the 14th. I cannot wait!

  • Today, May 9th, I had one of those auditions that you live for! The project is an indie short called, “AISLE 6” and deals with the very serious issue of autism and the toll it takes on a young mother. I enjoyed every second - from meeting the casting director, to performing the part of the “Classy Lady,” a snooty, well-off woman who has zero patience when a young boy with autism begins screaming uncontrollably. Natalie, the CD was a delight and whether I book this or not, it was an incredibly positive experience.

  • I was invited to participate in a Staged Reading of friend NANCE CRAWFORD’s hysterical farce, “WHERE THERE’S A WILL,” but unfortunately, due to time constraints, I am not able to do it. The reading is this Saturday, May 10th at 2pm if you’re in the vicinity of the Barnes & Noble at the Americana in Glendale.

PERSONALLY

  • One of my Hula Sisters successfully underwent a procedure to ensure that the gentle beating of her heart continues without a flutter. A BIG SIGH was experienced by everyone in the Halau who knows and loves her,

  • I got to visit for several days with someone near and dear to my heart;

  • met up with a few friends I hadn’t seen in ages;

  • And lastly, I am almost completely healed from my back injury (I foolishly lifted something I should have left to a store clerk), and will return to dancing and working out this week!

Mahalo for your interest!
