Fall 2014 – Facing Fear & Moving Forward!
So far, Fall has been pretty productive for me. I wound up working a total of six days on PARANORMAL ACTIVITY 5. I’m featured quite a bit and was one of only four women to be repeatedly called back. I got to do some scary stuff on my own that I hope stays in the picture. It was great fun and a very nice group of people. I believe the pic is slated to come out in March, 2015. I'll post here once I find out for sure.
In the beginnng of October, I enjoyed doing ADR on SCREW QUENTIN!, an indie comedy short I recently shot that was written by and stars Russian TV actor, ALEXEI MARKOV. It has been many years since I last did Automatic Dialog Replacement (or Looping, as it is often called), and it was like riding a bike. I was able to breeze through it and it was fun.
In September, two of the NEW YORK FILM ACADEMY shorts I did screened at their Film Festival which took place on the lot at Warner Bros. Unfortunately, I was not able to attend because I was traveling home from PA that day. Pretty exciting though to have my films up on the big screen at WB, my former employer, of all places!
In October, I submitted myself for b.g. on the COEN BROTHERS next feature, HAIL, CAESAR! starring GEORGE CLOONEY, CHANNING TATUM and TILDA SWINTON to name a few. There was a MASSIVE Open Call in Hollywood, which I did not attend. I submitted via mail and forgot about it. A couple of weeks later, I received word that I was cast. But here’s the best part - Joel & Ethan chose me (and five other women) out of thousands of submissions to be featured in the picture! A couple of days ago, I had a wardrobe fitting with OSCAR-NOMINATED costume designer MARY ZOPHRES. They are building the gown I will be wearing from scratch and it’s going to be gorgeous. I will definitely need to lose a few pounds to endure the corset and waist cincher I’ll be wearing! I’m tentatively booked to work on November 23rd and 24th. I’ll keep you posted!
On Monday, November 3rd, I did something that really scared me. My dear friend and amazing actress JULIA SILVERMAN and I auditioned for the venerable THEATRE WEST. They were looking for new members to join their company and from the moment I read the casting notice, my heart pounded. The thought of auditioning for them scared the hell out of me! That’s when I knew, no matter the outcome, that I HAD to do it. We chose a scene from MORNINGS AT SEVEN - a little old for us, but we were able to make it work.
Most auditions are held in a rehearsal room in front of a few people. Not at TW. A few days before, we learned that the audition would take place on stage, in front of the artistic director and 25+ company members. Now, it had been almost 20 years since I performed on stage, and that was with full rehearsals and a director - so the stress level shot way up. BUT, the moment we entered the house and took the stage, my anxiety melted away. I felt at home. We did our scene - they laughed in the right places - and then we did our monolgues. We should find out in a week or so whether we were accepted. I would love to join their ranks, but even if they pass on me, I feel great. I faced down my fear and did it!
